Two miles N of Wetherby on A661. 18th century Palladian villa set in an extensive rural estate of farms, woods and parklands on the edge of the Vale of York. One of the finest examples of the work of the celebrated architect James Paine and a splendid example of the Palladian style. Built in 1758 for the Middleton family, it was purchased in 1885 by Robert John Foster, great grandson of John Foster, founder of John Foster and Son based at the Black Dyke Mills.
