St. Mary's Church

Description

Established in 771 rebuilt in 11th Century by King Canute then altered each century from 12th - 15th. Low massive tower 12th century, 13th century chancel, misericords and nave arcades. Saxon masonry and window arches. Several medieval monuments including those of the powerful Neville family (cf. Edward IV & Richard III) and some medieval glass.

Internal restoration in 1849.

Useful Information

Disabled access : Main body of the church is all level, chancel is accessed by a shallow ramp.
Opening Times : 9am-5pm summer. 9am-3pm winter.
