TEESDALE village named after the historic church of St Romwald, a saint who reputedly died while a baby. Romaldkirk is on the south of the Tees and with neighbouring Cotherstone was historically part of Yorkshire. Both villages were annexed to County Durham in the local government reforms of the 1970s.
