Wylam Railway Museum

Description

Attractive displays in this small museum show importance of Wylam in history of railways and work of George Stephenson, Father of Railways, and other famous local railway pioneers such as William Hedley, Timothy Hackworth and Nicholas Wood. Historic locomotives Puffing Billy and Wylam Dilly were built in Wylam and worked on the Wylam waggonway. Scale models of these locos are on display in the museum.
