Beatrix Potter wrote many of her story books in this little 17th century house, which contains her furniture and china. The cottage is small so a timed ticket system is in operation to protect the fragile interior. Numbers of visitors may have to be limited at peak times. Access to the garden and shop is always possible during opening hours. Level access to the ground floor, stairs with handrails to other floors. Not suitable for pushchairs, wheelchair users are advised to call in advance. Assistance dogs admitted, braille guide book available. Free parking limited.
