Abbot Hall provides the perfect setting in which to see and enjoy fine art. It is one of Britain's finest independent galleries with a wonderful collection and a highly acclaimed exhibition programme. The Georgian building is a jewel in itself, situated by the River Kent and overlooked by the ruins of Kendal Castle. Collections of fine art from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries include paintings by Romney and Ruskin, works by 20th century British artists and 250 years of Lake District watercolours.
