Description

Three miles S of Ambleside at S end of village. An exceptional relic of Lake District life of past centuries. A wealthy yeoman farmer's house built about 1626 containing carved woodwork, books, papers, furniture and domestic implements of the past, collected by the Browne family who lived here from that date until 1943. Unsuitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or baby backpacks. Braille guide.
