The Writers' Museum, situated in the heart of the Old Town of Edinburgh is devoted to the lives and works of Scottish writers, particularly Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott and Robert Louis Stevenson. On display are items such as Burns' Writing Desk, Scott's chessboard and Stevenson's fishing rod. Also temporary exhibitions on other writers and literary themes. Outside the museum is Makars' Court, a literary memorial commemorating Scottish writers from the 14th century to the 20th century.
