St. Hilda's Parish Church

Description

Magnificent Early English church standing close to the sea on the Headland, giving views of the Marina and over Tees Bay into North Yorkshire. Particularly fine tower with enormous buttresses. Splendid long nave. 7th century Saxon name stone. Tomb possibly, of Robert Bruce, the founder, behind the altar.
