See active archaeology at this Roman frontier military and civilian settlement just to the south of Hadrian's Wall. Excavations are in progress Monday to Friday, April to September weather permitting. Visit our superb, newly refurbished museum housing rare and fascinating artefacts from the site. From March we will have some of the famous writing tablets on display in a fabulous new dedicated room. Also our open air museum with full scale replicas of a Roman shop, house, temple and a Northumberland croft, as well as reconstructions of Hadrian's Wall in stone and wood.
