Derwent Valley Countryside Path

Description

Swalwell to Lydgett's Junction, Consett, 12 and a half miles. A number of disused railways in County Durham have been reclaimed by Durham County Council as countryside walks and cycle routes. There is a network of interlinked routes, usually following valleys, with car parks and picnic areas at former stations. The paths are accessible for conventional wheelchair users and others with restricted mobility. Special arrangements are made for motorised wheelchairs
