Description

The Angel of the North created by Anthony Gormley is Britain's largest sculpture. It is 65 tall, higher than four double decker buses and has a total wingspan of 175 feet, almost the same as a Jumbo Jet. Erected in February 1998, the 200 tonne steel angel occupies an imposing location overlooking the A1 on the outskirts of Gateshead.
