Near Cowshill. Three miles west of Wearhead alongside the A689. Killhope, awarded family friendly museum is a great day out in the country for all. Killhope is a hands-on victorian museum, you can explore how lead miners and their families lived. Park Level Mine is an unforgettable underground experience following in the footsteps of the lead miners of old. Highlight of the underground tour is a giant underground working waterwheel. On the surface you can be a washerboy and find your own minerals, marvel at the Victorian engineering of the fully restored mining site. Wonder the woodland trails and maybe see Red Squirrels, Killhope shop and cafe complete your day out. Under 4 are free to come on site but we regret that they can not go underground. Free Parking.
